The present year has come to an end making space for the new year 2025. We would like to take this moment to foremost express our sincere gratitude to all those who stood with us during 2024, especially in the recent Presidential and Parliamentary elections. Great thanks to all the members of the security organs who spend sleepless nights protecting our country and protecting those they are responsible for in foreign missions.
We would also like to extend our heartfelt to the party members for standing firm during the August 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections. Your unwavering commitment and dedication to our shared vision have been truly inspiring. As we reflect on our collective efforts, let us pray to maintain this spirit of unity and resilience as we move forward together towards 2025. Great thanks to the National Consultative Forum of Political Organisations in Rwanda, African Greens Federation and all members of the Global Greens family.
The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda successfully campaigned in all the 30 districts of the country in the August 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections, and we managed to retain the two seats we had in the previous Parliament. This time we also got a woman MP.
We were able to strengthen our party structures including the national youth and women wings through the regional congresses conducted which helped elect Parliamentary candidates. Finally the national Electoral commission confirmed 50 candidates among them were 24 women.
After the elections period, the party also conducted training activities and supported sustainable livelihoods projects for the youth and women in different ten districts in the country with two from each province and the City of Kigali. We are hopeful that those projects will generate income and play a role in creating more jobs for the youth and women as enshrined in the second National Strategy for Transformation.
The Parliamentarians representing the party in both the Parliament-Chamber of Deputies and the Senate continued to advocate for reforms on different policies, programs, legislation and other key issues benefiting the population.
Looking ahead to 2025, we shall continue: advocating for reforms or changes of government programs and policies in favor of citizens better welfare and environmental sustainability, strengthening party structures in the country, capacity building of party members, collaboration with different stakeholders and sectors and implementation of various party strategies.
